Investments – Guaranteed Income Bonds

Guranteed Income Bonds, GIBs for short, are a short-term life assurance contract. As their name suggests, they guarantee a fixed income over a given period of time. The original investment is guaranteed to be repaid in full at the end of the term, which is usually between three and five years. The money will have been invested in fixed interest stocks.

GIBs based in the United Kingdom are paid net of basic tax. This tax cannot be reclaimed. GIBs based offshore are paid gross. Deferment of tax is permitted with these GIBs.
